DESIGN CONCEPT
The building is defined by the client’s brief to create a soothing environment to conduct business in the midst of a busy construction site. The interior space is formed by a winding and thick masonry wall that negotiates both the site and the client requirements. This wall starts at the site entrance, leading visitors up a ramp into a series of indoor spaces, culminating in the finale of an indoor landscape courtyard lit by a south facing skylight from above. This central garden space becomes the focal point of all the interior spaces and is a sensory relief from the noise and dust of the construction work taking place outside.
MATERIAL PALETTE
- Grey painted textured exterior wall featuring slender apertures dressed in translucent glass brick.
- Interior flooring, of plank style concrete finish tiles, lends a sense of continuity and expanse to the interior space.
- White walls finished with a rough pop texture is a delicate contrast to the rough nature of the grey walls.
- Duco painted, slender metal frames with large glass panel windows bring in ample natural light.
- Tropical plants including snake plants, umbrella tree, Philodendron and Calathea Lutea lend a lush feel.
