DESIGN CONCEPT
The project site was an irregular plot at the corner of an ongoing construction site. The design is the juxtaposition of an opaque rectangular volume, housing the more private functions and a transparent glass volume with the public functions. The two interact but don’t touch. The terracotta tiles and textured paint give a building a monolithic character, while the green painted metal frames and glass merges with the lush tropical green planting outside.
The opaque façade of the building faces the construction while the glass façade faces the landscaped area, thus giving the visitor a unique experience of lush greenery on an ongoing construction site. There are also steps outside, which take the visitor to a viewing deck, where they can view the progress of construction.
