The opposing privacy demands of monks and lay persons is reconciled by a spiral plan that allows for very independent and secluded entrances into what is essentially a twin house that shares the same small parcel of land. The privacy of the inhabitants is maintained by minimal windows and a presence of a private courtyard in the centre of each unit that allows the outside to come in, without exposing the inside to its surroundings.
